About > History

From a Texas startup, Clarity has grown to a business intelligence firm with national and international reach.

But we'll always be a startup at heart.

Recently, Golf Digest had this to say about what it called "elite player development," the result of so many golf academies, minor league tours, golf-specific fitness and training programs, and the American Junior Golf Association: "So far, a lot of the highly ballyhooed have been only pretty good. It seems that something at the crucial end of the prospective-champion learning curve is missing. Basically, it's hunger."*

We get that, because we see it in our own industry. We've worked for some of the most well-known, extensively prepared, and meticulously certified consulting firms out there. And the hunger was missing. It was less relentless pursuit of client goals, and more protecting the firm's own bottom line. It was less attacking the challenge, and more shrinking from exposure. It was less focus on the client, and more focus on revenue targets. And that, we didn't get. Because we believe that if you relentlessly pursue client goals, if you attack their challenges, and if you focus more on them than on yourself, the revenue will come.

So in 2004, we started our own company, Clarity Resource Group, in Austin, Texas. Our original mission was to help match increasingly competitive companies with exceptional IT and business professionals. With a focus on recruiting and placement, primarily in central Texas, we made an inaugural decision: exceed client expectations at every possible opportunity.

That first year, we saw that a genuine and tireless commitment to customers pays off. We established our E-commerce Practice, garnered a reputation as both a trusted partner and favored employer, acquired an array of Fortune 500 clients, and doubled our staff.

In our work, we saw a lot of organizations struggling to fund and staff BI initiatives, and we knew we could address this challenge with our accessible business model and client focus. So in 2008, Clarity launched our Business Intelligence Practice with senior executives and practitioners from Knightsbridge, the Gartner-ranked BI leader for nearly two decades. Based in Chicago, Clarity's BI Practice serves clients that have some of the largest and most sophisticated BI environments in the world.

Clarity has grown consistently since our inception, even during the economic crisis of recent years. In both 2007 and 2008, we were named a “Fast 50” growing company by the Austin Business Journal. And in 2009 and 2010, we were awarded a spot on the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies.

Today, Clarity has a global client base. We partner with companies of all sizes and types to advise, architect, build, and enable their BI environments.
