Clarity Team to Run Half Marathon
Clarity executives enter Austin’s “3M Half Marathon and Relay” to benefit local charity Any Baby Can
Austin, TX – January 23, 2009 – Clarity Resource Group, an IT and business consulting firm with a focus on application development, e-commerce, and information management, has decided to go literal with its business philosophy. Sporting bright blue shirts that bear the company’s logo and proclaim “Speed, Performance, Commitment,” three employees (plus one employee’s spouse) will be exhibiting all three qualities at the crack of dawn and throughout the morning on Sunday, January 25.
Sunday is the annual 3M Half Marathon and Relay in Austin, where Clarity is headquartered. This year marks Clarity’s first as a participant in the race, which offers something for athletes, casual competitors, families, and spectators alike. Featuring a rolling urban setting and a mostly downhill grade, the race includes a kids’ “fun run,” entertainment along the way, and food at the finish.
One of central Texas’s “Fast 50” growing companies, Clarity maintains a reputation for quickly delivering whatever professionals and solutions that clients need to address their IT and business pain points. The company also strives to be a steadfast and trustworthy partner, believing strongly that putting clients first results in a bottom line that takes care of itself.
This kind of business ethic translated well to marathon running, said Clarity partner and runner, John Papadia. “It is a good opportunity to demonstrate our company’s energy, as well as our enthusiasm to take on big challenges,” said Papadia, who also heads Clarity’s Information Management practice.
Joining Papadia are Cathleen Anderson, VP of Professional Services; Amanda Will, Account Executive; and Becky Urhausen, wife of Clarity’s founder and partner, Jim Urhausen. Papadia and Urhausen are running the full 13.1 miles, while Anderson and Will are running the relay portion of the race, which has a first leg of 6.4 miles and a second leg of 6.7 miles.
All of the Clarity runners are excited to be a part of this Austin tradition, especially for its good cause: Any Baby Can, which helps more than 5,000 local children in need and their families each year. “I am thrilled to know that this race alone donates over $30,000 to the organization,” said Anderson. “That is a great reason to get out there and participate.”
“One of the side benefits of having a long, diverse list of clients is the exposure we have to corporate sponsored charity events,” added Papadia. “We hope to continue to participate in and sponsor these events, and we also hope to begin our own direct, charitable endeavors.”
The 3M Half Marathon and Relay begins at 7 a.m. at the 9500 block of Stonelake Blvd. and ends on the University of Texas campus in downtown Austin.
