Clarity Adds New Equity Partner to Leadership Team

Former Knightsbridge practice leader, John Papadia, joins Clarity as head of its new Information Management Practice
Clarity Resource Group, a technology and business consulting firm with a focus on application and e-commerce development, announced that John Papadia will lead its new Information Management Practice.

Papadia, an expert in the field of business intelligence and data warehousing, led the Communications, Media, and Entertainment Practice at Knightsbridge, the pure-play BI/DW consultancy that competed successfully against much larger firms like IBM/PwC and Accenture. When Hewlett-Packard acquired Knightsbridge in 2006, Papadia continued in that role. This year, both professional and personal motivations prompted his decision to join Clarity.

“Clarity is growing at a very impressive rate, accumulating a striking list of clients—especially for a small firm—and is a recognized expert in the area of e-commerce,” said Papadia. “And personally, I have known Jim for over twenty years. Witnessing what he has done with Clarity so far, and where he sees Clarity going over the next few years, makes it a perfect opportunity for me to make an impact.”

“Jim” is James Urhausen III, Clarity partner and founder , who began his Big Five consulting career 15 years ago along with Papadia. Urhausen also worked with Papadia’s team at Knightsbridge to supply developer talent for customer data integration projects at America Online and Time Warner Cable.

“John’s focus on client service is a perfect match for what Clarity has accomplished and what we want to continue,” said Urhausen. “He brings a great deal of credibility, not only to information management, but to professional services. The relationships that he is bringing to Clarity are a direct result of who he is—his integrity—and we are the benefactor of that.”

Papadia describes his commitment to clients with matter-of-factness: “They are the only reason we are in business,” he said. “Small firms like Clarity have fewer distractions, no internal bureaucracy, and unlimited flexibility in not only meeting but exceeding the needs of the client. Clarity provides a unique opportunity for me and our consultants to focus solely on them.”

Added Urhausen, “We both have the big-firm consulting perspective, and with that, have the ability to translate and deliver the best practices from those experiences while removing some of the large company constraints,” he said. “We are focused on solutions, and flexible ones at that.”

Papadia and Urhausen outlined what they describe as a “unified set of objectives” for the company. First among these is growing the Clarity brand. “We would like Clarity to be one of the first things our clients and consultants think about when contemplating e-commerce, business intelligence, and finance/accounting work,” Papadia said.

Another goal is enhancing Clarity’s delivery capabilities by enabling more scalable, repeatable, and responsive sales, marketing, and recruiting processes. “We have made several key investments in support of this,” Papadia said.

Aside from business tangibles, both Papadia and Urhausen consistently emphasize trust—not only between Clarity and its clients, but as a top-down essential. “You have to trust the individual that you share the duties and responsibilities of an organization with, and John is someone who is trusted peer and friend,” said Urhausen. Papadia agrees. “We have an infinite amount of trust in one another,” he said. “I know that every decision Jim makes, and every action he takes, is in the best interest of Clarity, and he knows the same of me.”

The partners are enthusiastic and positive about what Clarity can achieve with these values in place. “We understand the both the supply and demand of e-commerce, business intelligence, and finance/accounting better than anyone,” said Papadia. “When you combine this expertise with our flexibility and client-first approach, you end up with a compelling, cost effective offering for clients and consultants.”
