who we are executive team
James N. Urhausen III
Founder, Partner, Application Development Practice Lead
Jim shaped Clarity into what it is today—a vibrant and hardworking team of people who not only collaborate to solve business and technology challenges for clients, but who also collaborate to create a climate of approachability and partnership with those clients.
Jim began his 15-year consulting career by analyzing the real estate market for US health care clients, and then moved on to Arthur Andersen as a senior consultant in their finance and economics industry team. There, Jim’s clients became Fortune 500 companies who needed guidance and assistance in managing mergers and acquisitions, and in completing market feasibility studies for new products and services.
Through this early work to equip clients with resources they needed, Jim recognized that the most interesting and influential resources on any project were the human ones. He decided to focus his attention and aim on them by joining Robert Half (NYSE: RHI), a multi-billion dollar publicly traded recruiting firm, in 1998. Beginning as a Search Consultant in the finance and accounting team, Jim pursued, promoted, and placed talent for clients like United Airlines, McDonald’s, Jones Lang LaSalle, and numerous firms in Chicago, where he was based. His efforts earned him Rookie of the Year status, and garnered Robert Half a 400% revenue surge in Jim’s division during his first 18 months.
Upon moving to Austin, TX, in 2001, Jim began working for Kforce (NASD: KFRC), a $500 million professional staffing firm based in Tampa, FL. He took on responsibility for the company’s accounting/finance and information technology practices, and immersed himself in learning and responding to the resource needs of the regional market. Promoted in six months to Market Manager for the Austin office, Jim once again far surpassed revenue goals by generating a 300% increase through the accounting/finance team, and a 200% increase through the IT team. Austin thus became one of Kforce’s top ten producers in 2003 and 2004.
With his expertise in matching people to projects, plus a strong drive to put that expertise on the line, Jim founded Clarity Resource Group in 2004. In building his own team of resources, he looked for people with complementary skills in domains he hadn’t yet tackled, but insisted on people with his same energy, enthusiasm, and conscientiousness. The result is a company that stays current on—and delivers—resource needs across various industries, and that most importantly, partners with clients rather than merely sells to them.
This partnership approach has enabled Clarity to put its mark on Austin: in September 2007, the Austin Business Journal named Clarity one of the region’s “Fast 50” growing businesses. Jim has also taken this growth to the next level, expanding his company’s reach beyond its home city and into a national market. Today, some of the world’s best-known organizations staff their technology and process improvement projects with Clarity consultants.
Jim graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a BS in business administration, a concentration in finance, and a minor in real estate and management.
